The "Blue Tablecloth" was primarily widespread in Eastern Georgia, crafted in the specialized textile workshops of Tbilisi, Gori, and Telavi. By the 19th century, it had become a staple in most Georgian households. Its signature decorative motifs originally featured crosses, fish, birds, and deer, later evolving to include tableware like knives, forks, and spoons, as well as figures dressed in traditional Georgian attire - the Kaba and Chokha-Akhalukhi.
The "Meidani" tablecloth features these traditional ornaments, including cutlery, pomegranates, deer, manes (curved leaf motifs), and fish. Its name originates from one of the oldest medieval districts of Tbilisi, capturing the historic spirit of the city's central gathering place.
