Old Georgian Jewelry held a special place in the ancient world for its high level of craftmanship. The oldest known pieces old Jewelry appear on the Georgian territory during the Paleolithic Age. Georgian Jewelry reached its artistic peak during the period known as the Colchis culture - the land of the Golden fleece. In Greek literature Colchis is referred to as the land ‘Rich in Gold’ – an epithet, with which only Mycaenae, Sardis and Babylon were honoured with.
