Front: Depiction of David the Builder. He holds a sceptre in his right hand and an orb topped with a cross in his left. He wears an imperial crown. To the left is the Asomtavruli inscription “დთ” and to the right “მფ”.
Back: A cross is depicted in the centre, surrounded by an Asomtavruli inscription: “In the name of Christ, David, King of the Abkhazians, Georgians, Ranians and Kakhetians.”
Original coin: David IV the Builder, 1118. Copper. The original coin is held in the British Museum.

The David the Builder silver pendant translates a pivotal numismatic artifact of Georgian history into a refined part of everyday style. The piece draws inspiration from the unique 1118 AD coin — the only surviving royal coinage depicting King David IV alongside old Georgian script - Asomtavruli.
While developing the design, we studied the graphic relief of the original coin, the royal regalia, and the distinct rhythm of early Georgian epigraphy. Remaining faithful to these historical details, we transformed the artifact into an accessory.
