The Qimerioni collection is dedicated to the Georgian avant-garde and the creative era of the early 20th century. During this period, Tbilisi responded to the echoes of European modernism: artistic gathering spaces emerged where creatives came together to preserve the distinct identity of Georgian culture.
One such space was Café Qimerioni, whose walls were decorated with paintings by Lado Gudiashvili, David Kakabadze, and the Toidze brothers. Qimerioni was a centre of avant-garde creativity and an important part of Tbilisi’s cultural life, frequently visited by artist Elene Akhvlediani and other prominent figures of the era.
