The Tabori rug brings together distinctive elements of Georgian design. Blue Supra ornaments, pomegranates, paisley motifs and the Georgian alphabet are combined in one cohesive composition

Since the Middle Ages, carpets and rugs have been actively produced and used in Georgia, supported by the country’s access to international trade markets.

The tradition of weaving in Georgia dates back to the Chalcolithic and Neolithic periods, as evidenced by fragments of ancient rugs. From the 17th to the 19th centuries, Tbilisi was considered one of the largest centres of carpet trade, with hundreds of tonnes of Caucasian carpets exported to Russia, Europe, and the United States.

The presence of such a local market had a significant influence on Georgian carpet-making, and ornaments characteristic of Eastern textiles became widely used. Georgian carpets are particularly notable for their artistic details, which reflect ancient traditions, beliefs, and cultural symbolism.
