The piece is based on motifs from a blue tablecloth found in the home of artist Elene Akhvlediani. In the 20th century, the blue tablecloth could be found in almost every Tbilisi home. Various ornaments were depicted on the indigo block-printed fabric: plants, animals, and symbolic figures.
Our design introduces touches of a contemporary visual language into this traditional textile, turning cultural memory into a part of everyday life.
