In 1919 "Tsisperqantselebi" (The movement of Georgian poets and writers) opened cafe "Kimerioni" on the lower floor of the Rustaveli Theater. Cultural diversity of the XX century Georgia and its lifestyle characteristics were reflected in the functioning of artistic cafes, including "Kimerioni." The walls of "Kimerioni" were painted by Georgian and invited foreign artists, including: Lado Gudiashvili, Davit Kakabadze, Sergey Sudeikin, Moses and Irakli Toidze. Paintings mainly reflected Georgian everyday life of the XX century. After the loss of Georgia's independence, the walls of "Kimerioni" were destroyed, although some of them were resurrected.
