The tradition of weaving in Georgia dates back to the Eneolithic and Neolithic eras, which is confirmed by the fragments of the ancient carpet findings. From the XVII-XIX centuries, Tbilisi was considered one of the biggest center of trade in carpets - hundreds of tons of Caucasian carpets flowed to Russia, Europe and the USA. The presence of such a local market had a great influence on Georgian rug-making – the eastern ornaments were widely popular. Along with the weaving technology, major part was artistic decor, which is a mirror of ancient Georgian traditions and beliefs.
